Jared Padalecki Reveals Who He's Playing in THE BOYS Season 5

Fans of The Boys finally have a solid answer about one of Season 5’s most talked-about mysteries, and it comes straight from Jared Padalecki. With the final season now rolling out on Prime Video, the long-awaited Supernatural reunion is officially in motion, and Padalecki’s role has been revealed.

Padalecki joins former co-stars Jensen Ackles and Misha Collins, reuniting the trio in a world that’s far more brutal than anything they dealt with on Supernatural. Ackles is back as Soldier Boy, and now we know exactly who Padalecki is bringing to life.

During an appearance at the FACTS Convention in Belgium, Padalecki finally confirmed the rumors that had been circulating for months. Turns out, the speculation was spot on.

"I can finally say it," Padalecki says in the video below. "We shot it a year ago. We shot in April of 2025, and I've been terrified of saying sh*t because I was like, 'Jeff Bezos is going to send a SWAT team after me or something.' Okay, yeah, I'm Mister Marathon."

In the world of The Boys, Mister Marathon has been referenced multiple times as the speedster who came before A-Train in The Seven. His tenure didn’t exactly leave a heroic legacy either.

The character has been tied to some shady behavior during his time with Vought, including sneaking college girls into Vought Tower alongside Lamplighter.

In the original comics created by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, Mister Marathon is a minor figure with a grim fate. He’s killed by Homelander during the failed attempt to stop the 9/11 hijacking, a moment that perfectly captures how reckless and dangerous The Seven can be under Homelander’s leadership.

Showrunner Eric Kripke previously teased what fans could expect from this Supernatural crossover, and it sounds like Padalecki and Collins aren’t exactly playing heroes.

"They show up in episode 5. What I love about what they're doing is they're just such douchebags. It's great. I mean, Soldier Boy is no treat either, but they're just really not morally upstanding dudes. It's a blast to watch them play that. It was just so much fun."

It remains to be seen how Mister Marathon will resurface in the story, but don’t expect him to stick around as a central figure. Padalecki’s part is said to be relatively small.

Season 5 cranks everything up to its breaking point. Homelander now controls the world with unchecked power, Hughie and the crew are locked away in a so-called Freedom Camp, and Annie is struggling to push back against an overwhelming Supe presence. Kimiko has vanished, and Butcher is moving forward with a plan that could wipe Supes off the planet entirely.

It’s the endgame for The Boys, and things aren’t looking good for anyone.

The series stars Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Jessie T. Usher, Laz Alonso, Chace Crawford, Tomer Capone, Karen Fukuhara, Nathan Mitchell, Colby Minifie, Cameron Crovetti, Susan Heyward, Valorie Curry, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Jensen Ackles, and Daveed Diggs.

Developed by Eric Kripke and based on the best-selling comic, The Boys has never pulled punches, and it doesn’t look like it’s about to start now. With Mister Marathon entering the mix, even in a limited role, it adds another wild card to a season that’s already packed with chaos.
