Jason Alexander Has Thrown His Hat in the Ring for the Role of The Penguin in THE BATMAN
Daily, if not hourly, we are getting developing news on the casting of Matt Reeves’s upcoming film, The Batman. Just this week, we’ve learned that Zoe Kravitz has joined the cast as Catwoman, Jonah Hill has removed himself from the project, and Paul Dano is on board to play The Riddler. So fans are left to speculate as to who will join next and take on the villainous part of The Penguin. While we speculate, one actor has thrown his hat in the ring, with a humorous twist.
Actor Jason Alexander, best known as George Costanza in the great series Seinfeld, tweeted:
This is a hilarious reference to the Seinfeld episode in which George tells a women that he is a marine biologist in order to impress her, but of course gets called out and put on the spot when they happen upon a beached whale while walking on the shore. Alexander has the right profile of the villain, but I feel like he would play a more cartoon-ish version, like the direction that was taken with the Tim Burton-directed Batman movies. This feels like a more serious take on the Batman lore, and I hope they go in a less obvious direction.
But I’m always happy to be proven wrong. What do you think of Jason Alexander in the role? Who would you cast as The Penguin if you had the choice?
