Jason Bateman Is Set to Direct a New Thriller Called SHUT IN for New Line Cinema

Jason Batman has found his next feature film directing gig. He will take on a new thriller for New Line Cinema titled Shut In. Bateman was supposed to direct Ryan Reynolds’ remake of Clue, but he had to drop out of that due to scheduling conflicts with his Netflix series Ozark.

According to Deadline, he found Shut In, which is a contained thriller that “he fell for quickly.” It’s also a project that will fit in with his schedule better, so he’s going to take it and start production in the first quarter of 2020.

The film is described as an “edgy thriller in the vein of Panic Room, in which a single mother is held captive by her violent ex, while her two young children are left at risk. She must do everything to protect them and survive.”

The script for the film comes from first-time scribe Melanie Toast, and Bateman will not star in the movie. He will only direct it. He last directed The Family Fang and Bad Words. This seems like it’ll be a good project for Bateman to take on. It certainly sounds like it’s going to be an intense movie.
