Jason Bateman Teams with GAME NIGHT Writer Mark Perez for the Superpower Film SUPERWORLD
Jason Batman is teaming up with Game Night scribe Mark Perez for a new superpower film titled Superworld. The film is based on a novel written by Gus Krieger. The film is set up at Warner Bros. and Bateman is set to direct and produce it.
The story is set in the year 2038 “where every person on the planet has superpowers, except for one man names Ignatius Lohman. Lohman is stuck in a white-collar job while his father is one of the most powerful people on the planet and leader of defense organization Peerless. But Lohman will get his chance to step up when he is forced to face a corporate overlord whose power is neutralizing anyone with a superpower.”
The story is said to have the same tone as Pixar’s The Incredibles. This could end up being a playful and entertaining movie. It’s got a fun little twist and it’s also great to see Bateman take on a different kind of film project. A movie like this is a step in the right direction for Bateman and could lead to bigger, more high-profile projects for him to direct.
Perez and Bateman are also developing an untitled family comedy for Netflix that is set in an abandoned movie studio. Bateman is also in talks to helm a heist film titled Here Comes the Flood.
