Jason Blum Did Not Mince His Words When Getting John Carpenter On Board With Latest HALLOWEEN Sequel

Jason Blum started Blumhouse Productions in hopes to give filmmakers with small budgets a production company to distribute their films. Fast forward to today and the company is still doing the same thing but turning these small budget films not only into world wide blockbusters but academy award winners (Whiplash, Get Out). To be able to do something like this in Hollywood, you have to be bold and take huge risks. According to John Carpenter, Jason Blum is not lacking in the Bold Risk Taker Department.

In a Q&A video interview with the film maker, Variety asked Carpenter about his involvement with the 2018 sequel of Halloween. He had this to say about how Blum finessed Carpenter into the Executive Producer role of the movie:

Jason Blum came to me and said ‘This movie is going to be made. So we’d like you, John, to come aboard as an Executive Producer, and just short of shepherd it through. And maybe do the music.’ He challenged me, and he said ‘Why don’t you get off your lazy butt and make it good? Instead of sitting around complaining.’ So I said Ok. It was about like that.

That is the epitome of a “Like a Boss” situation. Blum put the whole movie on the line and the gamble worked. He was able to impress Carpenter enough to get him on board and the rest is history.

The interview is a fantastic watch and is totally worth the time. Please take a moment to do so. I just thought this was too cool of a story not to share with the rest of you. Let us know what you think.
