Jason Lee Set to Return to TV in ABC Comedy VALLEY TRASH
Actor Jason Lee, known for many Kevin Smith films, the Alvin and the Chipmunks movies, and his hit TV series, My Name is Earl, is returning to TV with the upcoming comedy series, Valley Trash. The single-camera comedy pilot has been picked up by ABC, where Speechless writer, Niki Schwartz-Wright is on board to write and co-executive-produce alongside Nahnatchka Khan (American Dad!, Fresh Off the Boat) and Jen Carreras.
Here’s the synopsis and character description from Deadline:
It centers on The Harmans, a scrappy, blue collar family living in the deep Valley who suddenly experience a major culture clash when their fourteen-year-old daughter, Abby, gets accepted to a prestigious LA private high school filled with students and parents who want nothing to do with her, her family or their 818 area code.
Lee will play the lead Cal, a hard-working low-rent lawyer (the kind with his face on bus benches), who is basically a modern day Atticus Finch for people who can’t afford a lawyer. He is Southern, charming, rough around the edges and does everything for his wife Jules and two kids, Abby and Benji.
Lee is a charming and hilarious actor, so I think this is a great match. I will definitely be checking out the series when it hits ABC’s lineup. Are you interested in this series?
