Jason Momoa and Kurt Sutter Team Up For New Zealand Outlaw Biker Drama Nomad for Apple TV
Apple TV is shifting into high gear with a gritty new drama series titled Nomad, a New Zealand–set outlaw biker saga starring Jason Momoa. The project is co-created by Sons of Anarchy mastermind Kurt Sutter and Chris Collins, a writer and producer whose credits include John Wick: Chapter 3, The Wire, and The Man in the High Castle.
Set in the violent underworld of New Zealand’s biker gangs, Nomad centers on a warrior caught between two lives, two families, and two destinies. It’s the kind of morally gray, hard-hitting storytelling that fans of Sons of Anarchy and Peaky Blinders will probably eat up.
Sutter and Collins are co-writing the pilot, with Collins serving as showrunner. The series will be executive produced by Sutter through his SutterInk banner, Collins through Generator Entertainment, and Momoa and Brian Mendoza through their On The Roam label.
This marks another major collaboration between Momoa and Apple TV following their Polynesian-inspired historical epic Chief of War, developed with Chernin Entertainment.
Momoa recently starred in Minecraft: The Movie, a surprise hit for Warner Bros. that pulled in nearly $1 billion worldwide, and he’ll return to the high-octane world of Fast X: Part Two, and he’s taking on the role of Lobo in DC Studios’ Supergirl.
As for Sutter, Nomad looks like a return to familiar, adrenaline-fueled territory. While he never got to explore the backstory of Sons of Anarchy founder John Teller, this series blends his signature outlaw storytelling with the raw, emotional intensity of New Zealand’s crime world.
If this creative team delivers what it promises, Nomad could be Apple TV’s next big, hard-hitting drama.
