Jason Momoa Says Whether Or Not Lobo Gets His Own DC Movie Is "Kind of Up To the Fans"
The DC character Lobo is making his big screen debut this month in the movie Supergirl as Jason Momoa steps into the role. Momoa is no stranger to DC, as he has already reigned as Aquaman, but now he’s taking on a more complex role.
Fans have been looking forward to the introduction of Lobo for some time, and many hope to see him get his own film and DC story arc following this first adventure.
Momoa would also like to see that happen, but he thinks the fate of the character’s future is in the hands of the fans. He explained in a recent interview with i09/Gizmodo:
“I think just like Aquaman, I think it’ll work out that way. He was introduced in Batman v Superman, he went into Justice League. If things go well, it’s a lot of money to spend on the movie.
“People need to be going to it, so it needs to do well. If it does well, we wanna see more. If people like it, we’re gonna do more. If they really love him, f*ck it, I’ll get my solo movie.
“So it’s kind of up to the fans. And I think when people really love it and support it, then we’ll make what they want.”
Momoa has been asking to play this role since before he landed Aquaman, and judging by what critics and fans who’ve seen early screenings have said so far, he nailed it. I think it will be a no brainer to incorporate Lobo into the DCU and give him his own adventure to go on soon.
In the meantime, catch his premiere with Supergirl, in theatres on June 26th.
