Jason Momoa Set to Star in Netflix's Adaptation of LITTLE NEMO IN SLUMBERLAND

Netflix and Chernin Entertainment are producing an adaptation Windsor Mccay’s Little Nemo In Slumberland, and Jason Momoa (Aquaman) is set to star in the film with Francis Lawrence (Constantine, I Am Legend, The Hunger Games, Red Sparrow) directing.

The film will follow the story of the book where “a young girl, Nema, with the help of a large half-man/half-monster creature, travels to a mystical land in her dreams in search of her missing father.” Here’s a little synopsis:

Each night, young Nemo goes to Slumberland and has adventures and befriends the king of Slumberland, Morpheus. But one night Nemo discovers Nightmare Land, and the evil nightmare king, throwing Slumberland and Nemo himself into danger.

Momoa will take on the lead supporting male character, Flip. He is the creature, who is described as a “nine-foot tall creature that is half-man, half-beast, has shaggy fur and long curved tusks.” According to Discussing Film, This character will be created with CGI technology, and the film is said to be another big-budget production from Netflix.

Momoa and Lawrence previously worked together on the Apple TV+ series See and will likely begin preparing for this film once the second season of See wraps production.

The screenplay will be written by David Guion and Michael Handelman (Dinner for Schmuks, Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb). This isn’t the first time that Little Nemo In Slumberland has been adapted into a film. There was a wonderfully made anime adaptation that was released back in 1989.

This could be a great adaptation and I’m curious to see how it turns out! What do you think about Momoa taking on the role of Flip in the film?
