Jaume Collet-Serra Will Direct Dwayne Johnson's JUNGLE CRUISE Instead of SUICIDE SQUAD 2
Director Jaume Collet-Serra (Orphan, Unknown, The Shallows) has been hired by Disney to direct Dwayne Johnson in the big screen adaptation of Jungle Cruise. The director was up to direct Suicide Squad 2, but according to Deadline, he withdrew from that movie to make Jungle Cruise. Can you blame him!? Disney and Dwayne Johnson are definitely the safer bet!
There are no details on the story, but it's based on the classic ride at Disneyland which takes guest through a guided tour through the river around the world showing guest animals, ancient ruins, and indigenous people. The script is being written by J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay (Star Trek: Beyond).
With Disney and Johnson teaming up for this movie, you know it's going to be a sure-fire hit. Collet-Serra is a solid director that has made some fun films in his career, and this seems like a project that he'll be able to have some fun with awesomely pull off.
In the meantime, Warner Bros. is back on the hunt for a new director for Suicide Squad 2.
