JEM AND THE HOLOGRAMS Featurette - From Cartoon to Live-Action Film

Universal Pictures has released a featurette for director Jon M. Chu's upcoming live-action adaptation of Jem and the Holograms. The featurette focuses on the history of the classic 1980s cartoon, and its journey to the big screen. The video embed comes from E!, and on top of showing some footage from the film, it also includes Chu talking about his vision for the film and what he's looking to accomplish.

As a small-town girl catapults from underground video sensation to global superstar, she and her three sisters begin a one-in-a-million journey of discovering that some talents are too special to keep hidden. In Universal Pictures’ Jem and the Holograms movie, four aspiring musicians will take the world by storm when they see that the key to creating your own destiny lies in finding your own voice.

The musical adventure stars Aubrey Peeples as Jem, Stefanie Scott as Kimber, Aurora Perrineau as Shana, Hayley Kiyoko as Aj,a and Ryan Guzman as Rio. it also stars Molly Ringwald and Juliette Lewis.

I never watched the show when I was a kid, but it seems like fans are really excited about the film. Jem and the Holograms hits theaters on October 23rd. To watch the trailer for the movie, click here.
