JEM AND THE HOLOGRAMS Movie Has a 2015 Release Date

Universal Pictures revealed today that director Jon M. Chu's live-action Jem and the Holograms movie will be released on October 23rd, 2015. There's a lot of buzz surrounding this movie, because there's a lot of fans out there who grew up watch the 1980s Hasbro animated series.

The story "centers on an orphaned teenage girl who becomes an online recording sensation. She and her sisters embark on a music-driven scavenger hunt -- one that sends them on an adventure across Los Angeles in an attempt to unlock a final message left by her father."

The cast for the film includes Nashville actress Aubrey Peeples as the lead character Jem; Disney's A.N.T. Farm's Stefanie Scott as Jem's sister, Kimber; Pretty Little Liars actress Aurora Perrineau will play Shana; and The FostersHayley Kiyoko will take on the role of Aja. Juliette Lewis and Molly Ringwald also have roles in the movie that haven't been revealed.

Chu is known for directing some Step Up movies, a couple of Justin Bieber documentaries, and G.I. Joe: Retaliation. I'm not really a fan of anything that he has done, but this seems like the kind of film that he would do well with.
