WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS Spin-Off Series WELLINGTON PARANORMAL Heading to CW and HBO Max
Jemaine Clement (Flight of the Conchords) and Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok) are the hilarious duo behind the What We Do In the Shadows movie and TV series, and now the pair are making a spin-off series titled Wellington Paranormal that is heading to both the CW as well as HBO Max in their first joint acquisition.
The New Zealand horror mockumentary based on the vampire show launched on New Zealand broadcaster TVNZ2 in 2018, and it is finally making its way to the US. The third season of the show launched in New Zealand in February.
Wellington Paranormal follows the adventures of two incurious police officers from the What We Do In The Shadows feature film. It is centered around Officers O’Leary, played Karen O’Leary, and Minogue, played Mike Minogue, who both starred in the film. They are hard-working members of the Wellington constabulary’s paranormal unit who, under the supervision of Sergeant Maaka, played by Maaka Pohatu, investigate supernatural occurrences that arise in the capital of New Zealand on a surprisingly regular basis.
The series was created by Clement and Waititi, who serve as executive producers of the series with Paul Yates, and is produced by The New Zealand Documentary Board.
I am excited for anything made by Clement and Waititi, so I am really looking forward to this. Wellington Paranormal promises to be a hilarious good time. Are you excited for this new series?
