Jemaine Clement and Kate McKinnon Join Jason Momoa in WB's MINECRAFT Movie

Kate McKinnon (SNL, Ghostbusters) and Jemaine Clement (Flight of the Conchords) have joined the impressive ensemble cast of Warner Bros.’ Minecraft movie.

The movie is being directed by Jared Hess (Napolean Dynamite), and the rest of the cast includes Jason Momoa, Jack Black, Danielle Brooks, Emma Myers, Sebastian Eugene Hansen as well as Jennifer Coolidge.

The movie will be shot in New Zealand and it’s looking like the film will be released in 2025. There are no current details to share regarding the story, but there are so many different directions that the creative team could take the story. I think it’s safe to say that whichever way they go, the film will tell an adventure story.

Years ago, when the movie was first announced, it was said that they film would follow a “teenage girl and her unlikely group of adventurers. After the malevolent Ender Dragon sets out on a path of destruction, they must save their beautiful, blocky Overworld.”

So much time has passed since those story details were shared, though, that the story could’ve changed.
