Jenna Ortega Describes WEDNESDAY Season 2 as a "Bit More Horror" and a "Lot More Action"
Actress Jenna Ortega is gearing up to get back to the set of the hit Netflix series Wednesday, and while she hasn’t shot any of the scenes for Season 2 yet, she has read some of the scripts, and she says we have a lot to look forward to.
On the red carpet at the 75th Emmy Awards, Ortega was asked about Season 2, and she teased the impression she got from the first scripts she’s read, saying:
“We’re definitely leaning into a little bit more horror but it’s really, really exciting because all throughout the show, while Wednesday does need a little bit of an arc, she never really changes and that’s the wonderful thing about her. There’s really, really good one-liners, and I think everything’s bigger, it’s a lot more action-packed. Each episode will probably feel a little bit more like a movie, which is nice.”
That’s a solid hype up from the star! Hopefully she is prepared for a season even bigger than the first, as everyone knows what a difficult time she had making the first season.
The series comes from Smallville creators Al Gough and Miles Millar and executive producer/director Tim Burton. So far, there hasn’t been much information about where the series will go in Season 2.
Gough and Millar have hinted that we might see more Addams family members and explore further Wednesday’s relationship with her mother, Morticia. Ortega, who is becoming a producer for Season 2, had already indicated that the show would have stronger emphasize on horror over teen romance.
Wednesday is expected to begin shooting its second season in April. The Addams Family offshoot will be filmed in Ireland, moving production from Romania, where Season 1 was shot from September 2021-March 2022.
