Jennifer Aniston to Play Narcissistic Mother in Apple TV+ Series I'M GLAD MY MOM DIED

Apple TV+ is diving into some deeply personal and darkly comedic territory with its latest project, I’m Glad My Mom Died, a new dramedy series inspired by Jennette McCurdy’s bestselling memoir.

The series has officially been greenlit, with Jennifer Aniston set to star as the toxic mother at the heart of the story. She’ll also serve as an executive producer.

The Friends icon and Morning Show star is taking a sharp turn with this role, playing a narcissistic, controlling parent obsessed with her daughter's fame, and this is sure to be a great role for her to take on!

The show is described as “a heartbreaking and funny recounting of Jennette McCurdy’s struggles as a former child actor while dealing with her overbearing, domineering mother.” Aniston’s character is a narcissist who thrives on being “a starlet’s mother,” while her daughter, an 18-year-old actress on a hit kid’s show, begins to feel the weight of their codependent relationship.

I’m Glad My Mom Died will span 10 episodes and comes from Apple Studios. It’s written, executive produced, and showrun by McCurdy herself along with Ari Katcher (Ramy, The Jerrod Carmichael Reality Show).

McCurdy, who is best known for her role as Sam Puckett on iCarly and Sam & Cat, released her memoir in 2022 to critical acclaim. It pulled no punches when it came to her experiences as a child star, including eating disorders, emotional abuse, and the suffocating pressure of her mother’s ambitions.
