Jennifer Hudson is Aretha Franklin in This First Teaser Trailer For The Biopic RESPECT
The first teaser trailer has been released for the upcoming Aretha Franklin biopic Respect. Jennifer Hudson plays Franklin in the film, and as you’ll see in this first teaser, she was born to play this legendary icon. Just listen to her sing some of the classic song “Respect” in this teaser, it’ll send chills down your spine. It’ no easy feat to sing the songs that Frankin sang in her career, but I have no doubt that Hudson will brilliantly pull it off. This is the kind of stuff Oscar voters love to see.
Respect follows “the rise of Aretha Franklin’s career from a child singing in her father’s church’s choir to her international superstardom, Respect is the remarkable true story of the music icon’s journey to find her voice.”
In addition to Hudson, the film also stars Forest Whitaker, Marlon Wayans, Audra McDonald, Marc Maron, Tituss Burgess, Saycon Sengbloh, Hailey Kilgore, Tate Donovan, Heather Headley, Skye Dakota Turner, and Mary J. Blige.
Liesl Tommy (Mrs. Fletcher, The Walking Dead, Jessica Jones, Queen Sugar) makes her feature directorial debut with this movie from a script written by Tracey Scott Wilson (The Americans).
Respect hits theaters on October 9, 2020.
