Jennifer Lawrence and Adam McKay Team Up for Film About the Founder of Theranos
Last year Adam McKay won an Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay for The Big Short. That was easily one of the best films of the year. It explored the corruption and ridiculousness of Wall Street and how they play the housing market. The director is now going to take on another controversial story, and he's taking Jennifer Lawrence along for the ride.
The story for the untitled film centers on Elizabeth Holmes, "the founder of the health-technology and medical-laboratory-services company Theranos. Forbes named Holmes the richest self-made woman last year. The biotech entrepreneur’s net worth was completely reduced last week when Forbes revised the estimate from $4.5 billion to zero following allegations that the company’s blood tests are inaccurate."
Damn! Lawrence is set to star in the film as Holmes, and McKay will write and direct it. This is a great project for both of them, and it has all the ingredients for an Oscar-nominated movie. After seeing what McKay did with The Big Short, he has a great storytelling style that perfectly blends humor, intensity, and drama. I can't wait to see what he does with this one. Then, of course, Lawrence is going to once again deliver an amazing performance.
