Jennifer Lawrence Says She'll Only Return For More X-MEN Movies If Her Co-Stars Do
X-Men: Apocalypse is the third movie that features actress Jennifer Lawrence playing Mystique, a lower-tier X-Men character who, frankly, has always felt a little out of place anywhere near the center of this film franchise. Much has been made about whether or not Lawrence will come back for more X-adventures, with the actress herself leaning back and forth on the matter.
In a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, she details the only way she'll actually come back to play Mystique in another movie:
“Fassbender and McAvoy and I were all talking. Like, ‘Will you come back?’ ‘I dunno.’ ‘I’ll come back, if you come back.’ Fox should be terrified because the deal we made was like if one of us doesn’t come back, none of us are...I would love to come back. I love the fans and I love the character. But then you realize how important your year is, like how important three months out of your year is. I don’t know. I shouldn’t be that honest.”
When Lawrence first signed on to this franchise, she wasn't nearly the mega-star she is now, so I wouldn't blame her if she decided that she didn't need these movies and stepped away for good. It sounds like she absolutely hates the extensive makeup process (“You go in and you realize you’re rock bottom and like this sucks and it could not suck more”), and while that statement may be a tad dramatic, I understand where she's coming from.
