Jennifer Lopez and Robert Zemeckis Team Up for Netflix’s Dark New Thriller THE LAST MRS. PARRISH

Jennifer Lopez is continuing her Netflix streak, and this time, she’s bringing in one of Hollywood’s most legendary directors. Lopez is set to star in The Last Mrs. Parrish, a psychological thriller directed by Oscar-winner Robert Zemeckis, the director behind Back to the Future and Forrest Gump.

The film is currently in development, with a script from Andrea Berloff (Straight Outta Compton) and John Gatins (Flight), reuniting Gatins with Zemeckis for the first time since their 2012 Denzel Washington drama, Flight.

Lopez will play a cunning con artist who sets her sights on the wealthy Parrish family. Her plan is to befriend the wife. Seduce the husband. Steal the life. But as with any good psychological thriller, nothing is as it seems. The synopsis teases:

“She infiltrates the pair by befriending the wife and seducing the husband, with the master plan of becoming the next Mrs. Parrish, only to discover that the wife’s life is far more complicated than she could have imagined.”

The film is based on the bestselling novel by Liv Constantine and is being produced by Liza Chasin, Molly Sims, Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas, and Benny Medina. Executive producers include Margaret Chernin, Lynne and Valerie Constantine, Jack Rapke, and Derek Hogue.

This marks the latest in a string of collaborations between Lopez and Netflix, following her action thriller The Mother and the upcoming sci-fi film Atlas. She’s also been diving into prestige drama territory, working with Bill Condon on the upcoming Kiss of the Spider Woman, which premiered at Sundance.

As for Zemeckis, this project leans into the psychological thriller space he’s explored before with films like What Lies Beneath and Allied. His most recent film, Here, reunited him with Tom Hanks and Robin Wright.

The Last Mrs. Parrish doesn’t have a release date yet.
