Jennifer Tilly is Returning To The CHILD'S PLAY Franchise in The Upcoming CHUCKY Series

Veteran Child’s Play franchise star Jennifer Tilly isn’t done with it yet! Fans of the original films will be happy to learn that Tilly, who played Chucky’s girlfriend Tiffany, as well as a fictionalized version of herself, will be back to reprise her role in SyFy’s upcoming Chucky series. Tilly entered the franchise with 1998’s Bride of Chucky.

Tilly told Page Six, “I’m so excited. Don Mancini, who created the Chucky 30 years ago is the writer on this series, so it’s the original Chucky…[Mancini’s] partner is Nick Antosca, who did Channel Zero, which is just a chilling anthology of horror stories, so a little bird told me that I am going to be a part of it.”

The actress has been a fun addition to the franchise, and with this series being a continuation of the movies, it makes sense that they would bring her back for more. Mancini is writing the series, will serve as its showrunner, and will direct the first episode.

In the new Chucky TV series, “after a vintage Chucky doll turns up at a suburban yard sale, an idyllic American town is thrown into chaos as a series of horrifying murders begin to expose the town’s hypocrisies and secrets. Meanwhile, the arrival of enemies — and allies — from Chucky’s past threatens to expose the truth behind the killings, as well as the demon doll’s untold origins as a seemingly ordinary child who somehow became this notorious monster.”

Mancini previously teased that the series would be "darker than ever before. It’s going to be very creepy." The series will also bring the franchise back to its original roots. It was previously explained that the series would continue what the film franchise has set up:

“We deliberately ended Cult [of Chucky] with a bunch of cliffhangers to set up a TV series. Because there are so many different threads now, television could best accommodate that so that was done intentionally. At the same time, we have a whole new world, a bunch of new characters which we can say nothing about.”

Mancini went on to say:

“I’ve long wanted to bring Chucky to television and Syfy is the perfect network for us. The show will be a fresh take on the franchise, allowing us to explore Chucky’s character with a depth that is uniquely afforded by the television series format, while staying true to the original vision that has terrorized audiences for over three decades now.”

Brad Dourif, who voiced Chucky in all the films, except for the remake, is also returning to bring the serial killer doll to life again.

With the original creative team from the films coming back to develop this series, I’m pretty excited to see how it turns out. Yeah, this is a silly horror franchise, but I’ve enjoyed it!
