Jeremy Irons Joins Lady Gaga in Ridley Scott's GUCCI
Jeremy Irons is set to join the ensemble cast of director Ridley Scott’s upcoming film project Gucci. Lady Gaga is set to star in the film as Patrizia Reggiani, the ex-wife of Maurizio Gucci. Reggiani was tried and convicted of orchestrating her ex-husband’s assassination on the steps of his office in 1995. She served 18 years before being released from prison in 2016.
The film also has a talented ensemble cast that also includes Adam Driver, Jared Leto, Al Pacino, Jack Huston, and Reeve Carney. The film will be based on the book by Sara Gay Forden, The House of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour, and Greed. The script is being written by Roberto Bentivegna.
Here’s the description of the book:
Did Patrizia Reggiani murder her ex-husband, Maurizio Gucci, in 1995 because his spending was wildly out of control? Did she do it because her glamorous ex was preparing to marry his mistress, Paola Franchi? Or is there a possibility she didn't do it at all?
In this gripping account of the ascent, eventual collapse, and resurrection of the Gucci dynasty, Sara Gay Forden takes us behind the scenes of the trial and exposes the passions, the power, and the vulnerabilities of the greatest fashion family of our times.
It’s explained that Maurizio Gucci had two daughters with Reggiani, “but he left her for another woman. She’d had a brain tumor removed, and her children blamed it for her actions; the media took a darker view during a sensationalized affair, depicting her as a hot-blooded woman scorned and dubbing her ‘Black Widow.’ She originally drew a sentence of 29 years.”
I don’t really know much about the story behind this, but I’m sure that Scott will deliver a solid film, especially with the impressive cast he put together.
