Jeremy Renner Might Still Return to MCU Despite Turning Down HAWKEYE Season 2
Jeremy Renner may not be done with Hawkeye. After reports surfaced that Renner declined Marvel Studios’ offer for Hawkeye Season 2, largely due to what insiders called a lowball paycheck for a grueling 9-month shoot, many fans assumed the Avenger’s MCU journey had quietly come to an end.
Especially since Renner hasn’t been announced for Avengers: Doomsday and Marvel appears to be dialing back on streaming shows starring their marquee heroes.
According to trusted scooper Daniel Richtman, “Marvel [is] still in talks with Jeremy Renner to come back for a season 2 of Hawkeye.” So the door isn’t closed just yet. They just need to come to an agreeement.
Renner himself recently addressed the situation, saying: "I think it's more the willingness to step away from things," he said, referencing his priorities post-accident. "My daughter's the priority. It's not even a choice. I'm going to be a father to my daughter. If they're going to keep shooting in London or [whatever], it's not gonna work."
That said, he's not against the idea. In fact, he seems open, under the right conditions. When asked about rumors of a Raid-inspired story featuring Clint and Kate Bishop fighting Clint’s brother, Barney Barton (aka Trickshot), Renner responded with a telling tease:
"Maybe some of that's true in there, I don't know. We got into it a little bit storywise and stuff. Everyone was interested in it. I wouldn't want to say no to that. I think there's still a lot of ideas and they've got to figure a lot of things out."
And while the potential Season 2 would likely shift more of the spotlight to Hailee Steinfeld’s Kate Bishop—especially after Season 1 handed her the bow, Renner seems to understand the value of his presence in the MCU, even if it’s not in a lead role.
"I'm always game to do it, man," he added. "It's a fun world, and I love being part of it. Selfishly, I like the currency of doing it because of what it means to the kids in the foundation I run."
If Renner does return, it’ll have to work for him on every level, financially, logistically, and personally. Until then, the future of Clint Barton remains in limbo. But it’s good to know the conversation isn’t over.
