Jesse Eisenberg to Play a Sasquatch in the Zellner Brothers' Upcoming Movie

Oscar-nominated actor Jesse Eisenberg (The Social Network, Zombieland) has starred in several hit films in his career, and this year he made the jump to directing with his debut film When You Finish Saving the World. During an appearance at the Sarajevo Film Festival, Eisenberg was honored at his film’s screening with an Honorary Heart of Sarajevo Award. Afterward, he caught up with Variety, and talked about his next film role, saying:

"The next movie I'm doing is the Zellner Brothers'. They're just these brilliant directors that I've wanted to work with for a long time, and I'm playing a Sasquatch. In full makeup. In full body hair. No lines — I grunt, but no lines — and I'm so looking forward to this."

The Zellner brothers have a long-documented love of all things Bigfoot. Back in 2010, they made the short film Sasquatch Birth Journal 2, featuring the creature giving birth and then taking a bath in a nearby body of water. The short was nominated for the Sundance Short Filmmaking Award in 2011.

In fact, the film's YouTube bio describes the Zellners as "Sasquatch fanatics since they were children" who "think of the Sasquatch as a friend but also acknowledge their 'unhealthy, unrealistic desire to pet and cuddle wild animals.'" It is unknown if this upcoming film will be tied to the short, or a completely new story.

Eisenberg will be reuniting with the Zellner brothers after previously starring opposite David Zellner in the 2019 martial arts comedy The Art of Self-Defense. David's younger brother, Nathan Zellner, also served as executive producer on the film.

I like Eisenberg. I like a lot of his movies. I look forward to hearing more about this Sasquatch movie. We will keep you posted as more info is released.
