Jesse Eisenberg Would Love To Play Lex Luthor Again if He Was Given The Chance
Director Zack Snyder was setting up something big for Lex Luthor’s story arc in the DCEU. The character was introduced in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice and was played by Jesse Eisenberg. While I didn’t really care for Eisenberg’s take on the character, there were fans who did like him in the role.
After Warner Bros. replaced Snyder with Joss Whedon though, all those future DCEU plans that Snyder had planned vanished. He wasn’t coming back. Now the DC films are on a very different path and I think it’s safe to say that we’ll never see Eisenberg’s version of Lex Luthor in another DC movie.
But, if WB wanted him to come back to play the role, the actor said that he’d love to! When asked by MovieWeb if he would be interested in playing the character again, he said:
“Oh, 1000 percent. Which is not even… that’s ten pies. Ten full pies. Yeah, of course. Yeah. I loved it so much. I mean I was the shyest kid in the world. To get to play a mean character with flamboyance like that is exhilarating. I probably won’t do another. I don’t know if they’re making another one where I would be in it. But no, I loved it. It was great. I’m so happy I got to do it. Ever.”
The actor was asked the same question by Variety in a separate interview, and this was his response:
“I hope so. I mean, I have no idea is the truth. I love playing the character. Probably in terms of movie acting, it’s the most enjoyable character I’ve had the opportunity to play. So I would love to do it again. But I don’t know what their slate is. If you have any pull, please use it.”
It’s nice to see him so enthusiastic about playing Lex Luthor again, but I just don’t think that it’s going to happen. What did you think about Eisenberg’s version of Lex? Would you like to see him play the character again?
