Jessica Chastain and Anne Hathaway's Psychological Thriller MOTHER'S INSTINCT Acquired By Neon
Neon has acquired U.S. rights to the upcoming psychological thriller Mothers’ Instinct, which stars starring Jessica Chastain and Anne Hathaway. There’s some serious star power attached to this movie and it sounds like the story is going to go to some dark places.
The film is set in the early ‘60s, and the story follows “best friends and neighbors Alice (Chastain) and Celine (Hathaway) both live an idyllic traditional lifestyle with manicured lawns, successful husbands and sons of the same age. Life’s perfect harmony is suddenly shattered after a tragic accident. Guilt, suspicion and paranoia combine to unravel their sisterly bond and a psychological battle of wills begins as the maternal instinct reveals its darker side.”
Chastain and producer Kelly Carmichael said in a statement: “Neon is a true filmmaker’s haven. Their unique vision and distinctive campaigns are a reflection of their mission to bring the best and most diverse cinematic experience to U.S. audiences.”
Castine and Hathaway are both extremely talented actresses and this seems like it will be a perfect project for them to take on.
The movie is a remake of the 2018 critically acclaimed Belgium film Duelles directed by Olivier Masset-Depasse and he is also going to direct this remake. It will begin principal photography on May 25.
