Jessica Chastain Wants to Play Beverly Marsh in IT: CHAPTER 2
After audiences watched the amazing feature film adaptation of Stephen King's IT, a lot of fans started talking about what actors would fit in the roles of the adult versions of the kids who make up The Losers Club.
Actress Jessica Chastain has been brought up multiple times about taking on the adult version of Beverly Marsh, who was played by Sophia Lillis in the recent film. Even the young actress wants to see her character played by Chastain. You know who else wants Jessica Chastain to play the character? Jessica Chastain! During a recent interview with Screen Rant while promoting her upcoming film Molly’s Game, Chastain was asked if she’d be up for starring in the sequel and this is what she had to say:
"Well, I love Andy and [producer] Barbara [Muschietti]. I worked with them on Andy’s directorial debut, you know, his film, Mama. His first film. And you know, Barbara is one of my best friends so…We’ll see…Listen, of course, I want to work… they’re my friends. They’re like my family. Anything that they’re doing I want to be a part of, so I hope we can make it happen."
With everyone being such good friends, it sounds like there's a good chance that Chastain will end up being cast in the role. Director Andy Muschietti already expressed his interest in casting her in the role in an interview with Variety, saying:
“Jessi is an amazing actress and very good friend and I would love her to play Beverly.”
I imagine that if the everyone's schedules align, we will see Chastain in the role of Beverly, which is perfect casting. She would be amazing in the role! After all this talk of everyone wanting her being involved with the project, it would be a shame if it didn't happen.
The next chapter of the story will focus on the Losers Club reuniting for the first time 27 years after they beat Pennywise The Clown when they were kids. They are all adults and they've forgotten about what had happened until they are reminded of the promise they made thanks to a phone call from Mike Hanlon, who stayed behind in Derry to keep watch.
It has previously been revealed that Chapter 2 will include more of the interdimensional turtle, it will have a much darker tone, and Mike Hanlon's character will be drastically changed, as he will be a junkie. You can read more about that here.
