Jessica Henwick Hopes To Return To The MCU as Colleen Wing
Jessica Henwick was asked to reprise her role as Colleen Wing in Marvel’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, but she ultimately turned it down to star in The Matrix Resurrections. Regardless of the decision, she hopes Marvel comes knocking again so that she can jump back into the MCU.
As you know, Henwick made her MCU debut in the Iron Fist series, and she ended up being the best part about that show. Fans loved the character, so of course it would be cool to see her back in action. With both Charlie Cox and Vincent D'Onofrio back in the MCU as Daredevil and Kingpin, the door is wide open for Henwick to return.
During a recent interview with CB, Henwick was asked if she would be interested in jumping back in on the MCU action, she said:
"Look, the way we left Iron Fist, spoiler alert, Colleen has the power and she's in a really good place. I would love to revisit her. That character meant a lot to me and really changed my life. And I would love to revisit her one day, but it would really have to be the right place, and the right time, and the right script, but never say never."
If Marvel came to her to expand on Colleen’s story arc, Henwick would do it. Maybe Marvel will come back and ask if she wants to be involved with the Shang-Chi sequel that’s in development. But, she really could be asked to show up in anything that Marvel is doing!
Henwick goes on to talk about the new skills that she picked up while working on The Matrix Resurrections, skills that she could bring to the MCU:
"[The Matrix Resurrections felt like an amalgamation of all the different bits of training that I'd had over the years with so many amazing coordinators and instructors. But really what was new for this time around was the work I had to do with guns. I had almost no real, hardcore weapons experience. And we had an amazing trainer, Rock, who made me feel really safe and tried to encourage me to just feel like it was an extension of the hand, that I was one with it. Because if you look at Keanu, I remember the first time on set with my gun, he just came over and inspected it. And there's an effortless aspect to it that I really wanted to emulate."
