Jessie Buckley and Olivia Colman Star in Funny Trailer for WICKED LITTLE LETTERS Based on Outrageous True Story
Oscar-nominee Jessie Buckley (Women Talking) and Oscar-winner Olivia Colman (The Favourite) are reuniting after their 2021 drama, The Lost Daughter. This time, they are taking on the comedy genre with the outrageous true story Wicked Little Letters. They are joined in the cast by Timothy Spall, Gemma Jones, Lolly Adefope, and Anjana Vasan. The film is directed by Thea Sharrock (Me Before You, The One & Only Ivan). The screenplay is written by Jonny Sweet.
The film’s synopsis reads:
“A 1920s English seaside town bears witness to a dark and absurd scandal in this riotous mystery comedy. Based on a stranger than fiction true story, the film follows two neighbours: deeply conservative local Edith Swan (Olivia Colman) and rowdy Irish migrant Rose Gooding (Jessie Buckley). When Edith and her fellow residents begin to receive wicked letters full of unintentionally hilarious profanities, foul-mouthed Rose is charged with the crime. The sweary anonymous letters quickly prompt a national uproar, and a trial ensues. However, as the town's women - led by Police Officer Gladys Moss (Anjana Vasan) - begin to investigate the crime themselves, they come to suspect that something is amiss, and Rose may not be the culprit after all.”
This looks so delightful! I can’t wait to see this film and enjoy the wicked wit of Buckley and Colman. Check out the trailer below, and watch Wicked Little Letters in UK theatres on February 23rd. Keep an eye out for the film’s US release date.
