Jim Lee Helped to get Brandon Routh Back Into the Superman Suit for the Crisis on Infinite Earths Crossover
If you have read any of my posts on any Superman movie you know that I think that Brandon Routh and Henry Cavill have both done a great job as The Man of Steel. When I heard that Routh would be donning the cape once again, I seriously thought about jumping back into the slog known as the Arrowverse. Before you start yelling, I gave up on it all once everyone started getting powers. Lame! Back to it.
/film was able to catch up with Marc Guggenheim, Arrow producer and crossover supervisor, at the CW party at the Television Press Association and this is what he had to say about getting Routh to play Superman again:
It’s never legal wrangling,” Guggenheim said. “It’s the usual dance we do when we’re trying to access characters from the DC universe outside of the Arrowverse. So it’s just conversations. I will tell you, Jim Lee was incredibly instrumental in those conversations. It’s funny, I don’t think of it as legal wrangling so much as diplomacy and Jim was amazing, and such a gentleman about it, a real advocate for the shows, a real advocate for the studios. I have to say it was really painless
When you have a head honcho like Jim Lee in the mix, things will more than likely go your way. For those of you who don’t know, Jim Lee is the Co-Publisher and Chief Creative Officer of DC comics.
When asked if this would be a sequel to Superman Returns, Guggenheim said:
“I don’t know if it’s for me to say,” Guggenheim said. “We’re picking up so many years after the events of that movie, maybe a coda is a better word than sequel.”
I really don’t care, I am going to watching Crisis on Infinite Earth. Unfortunately, it will make me sad for what could have been. Let us know what you think.
