J.J. Abrams Admits He's Not Great With Endings Which is What Every STAR WARS Fan Wants to Hear Right Now
We are less than a couple of weeks away from Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker being released in theaters and to help get the fans pumped up for the grand finale of the Skywalker saga, director J.J. Abrams admits that he’s not great with ending stories.
While talking with the New York Times, Abrams said:
"I’ve never been great at endings. I don’t actually think I’m good at anything, but I know how to begin a story. Ending a story is tough."
Which is exactly what every Star Wars fan wants to hear right now! Abrams has been tasked with closing out one of the most beloved and debated franchises of all time and he says he’s not great with endings. Why would he say that!? This is a movie that he has to stick the landing on or there will be riots on the Internet! When talking about sticking the landing, he said:
"Sticking this landing is one of the harder jobs that I could have taken. But that was why it felt worthy of saying yes."
The filmmaker previously said:
"Endings are the thing that scare me the most. This is about bringing this thing to a close in a way that is emotional and meaningful and also satisfying in terms of actually answering [as many] questions as possible. So if years from now, someone’s watching these movies, all nine of them, they’re watching a story that is as cohesive as possible."
Well, regardless of Abrams’ thoughts on how he’s not good at delivering great endings, I hope that he can pull it off with The Rise of Skywalker.
