J.J. Abrams Clarifies What Finn Wanted To Tell Rey in THE RISE OF SKYWALKER

If you haven’t seen Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker yet you may want to skip this because there are spoilers.

During Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, we learned that there was something Finn really wanted to tell Rey. He tried to tell her a few times, and there was even a little comedic back and forth banter about it between Poe and Finn when Finn tried to get the information out of him during a situation where they thought they were going to die. But as the movie came to an end, we never got to see Finn tell Rey what it is he wanted to say!

I’m not sure why you would build something like that up in the story and then never tell the audience what it was. I initially thought he wanted to tell her that he’s in love with her because they made such a big deal about it, but during a Q&A with director J.J. Abrams, he explained what Finn really wanted to tell Rey.

He wanted to share with her that he was Force sensitive. We saw Finn having some “feelings” about a few things over the course of the film, but it mostly came in handy to help move the plot along as the Resistance found themselves in an epic war against the Final Order.

Was Finn always Force Sensitive? Abrams previously says it was alluded to in The Force Awakens:

"It's part of the story in this one, And it was alluded to in Episode VII, but there's a bit more light shed on that in this one."

To me, it felt like this was just an all of a sudden thing with Finn. But, ok... he’s Force Sensitive. This being the final film in the saga, they really had to squeeze a lot into the story. I get it, but they could’ve planned it out better.

What do you all think about Finn being Force sensitive and the way it was handled in the movie?
