J.J. Abrams Producing a New SUPERMAN Reboot for WB with Writer Ta-Nehisi Coates

Warner Bros. is rebooting Superman, and J.J. Abrams is attached to produce the film. The studio has also hired Ta-Nehisi Coates to write the script. No plot details have been revealed, but the report makes a point of saying that “Henry Cavill is eager to get back into the cape.” So it seems like Cavill will be back in the role, which is great news that DC fans will be happy to hear. But, it still has yet to be officially announced that he will come back for the film. With no official announcement, there’s still a chance they could replace him.

Coates really hasn’t done much with films, but he’s an author and journalist for The Atlantic. He covered cultural, social, and political issues, specifically that of African Americans and white supremacy. He’s also written a Black Panther and a Captain America series for Marvel Comics. Coates is also attached to write a Ryan Coogler-directed drama feature titled Wrong Answer about “a math teacher in Atlanta who is scandalized when he looks to get funding for his school by altering his students’ test scores.” Michael Jordan is attached to star in that film.

Hannah Minghella will serve as a producer on the new Superman project. Fans have been waiting to see what WB would do with the Superman franchise since the studio changed the trajectory of their DC movie plans. We knew one day we’d see another Superman movie, we just don’t know what to expect from it.

What would you like to see happen with a new Superman movie?
