J.J. Abrams Shares His Favorite STAR WARS Prequel Scene
In a recent interview with EW, director J.J. Abrams was asked what his favorite scene from the Star Wars prequels was. When you ask a lot of fans that question, the answer is usually the fight scene between Darth Maul, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Qui-Gon Jinn. At least, that’s my favorite scene.
Instead, Abrams revealed his favorite scene comes from The Revenge of the Sith. It’s the scene where Palpatine (Ian McDiarmid) lures Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen) to the dark side of the Force with the tale of Darth Plagueis. Abrams says:
“There’s just something about that scene. There’s just two people sitting there. It’s visually interesting. But I just think Ian’s performance in it is spectacular.”
When the person interviewing Abrams shared that his favorite scene was the Darth Maul fight sequence, Abrams acknowledged the scene was “amazing” but also found it disappointing. Why? Because Maul was “so heavily hyped in the film’s marketing and then was quickly killed off before he had a chance to develop as a character.” Abrams said, “It was over too quickly,” which is a great point.
