J.J. Abrams' Upcoming HBO Sci-Fi Series DEMIMONDE Finds Its Showrunners

J.J. Abrams has hired a trio of showrunners to lead the charge on his upcoming HBO sci-fi series, Demimonde. Those showrunners include The Handmaid’s Tale executive producer Kira Snyder and Life duo Rand Ravich and Far Shariat. It’s rare for a series to have three showrunners, but I guess this is the kind of series that needs the extra support.

Demimonde is described as an “epic and intimate sci-fi fantasy drama that deals with a world’s battle against a monstrous, oppressive force, exploring the lengths a family will go to find their missing child. “

It was previously reported that the show will take this family and audiences to another world. The family consists of a mother who works as a scientist, her husband and their young daughter. They end up getting into a terrible car accident. "After the mother winds up in a coma, her daughter begins digging through her experiments in the basement and winds up transporting to another land amid a world's battle against a monstrous, oppressive force. Her father then follows her into this new world.”

Abrams will write and executive produce the series with Ben Stephenson, who is the head of television for Abrams’ Bad Robot Productions.

While some fans are sour over how Abrams handled the final film in the Skywalker Saga, I’m still excited about what he’s got planned for this show. It’s always great to see original stories and projects like this get pushed through. I’m curious about this story and what it will give us.
