Japan Had the Best TV Show Ever for Two Years and it's Called SAMURAI CAT

Japan comes up with some pretty crazy ideas for their television shows. This show I think wins best TV show idea ever. Sure, the main idea is the classic trope of a hardened assassin gets hired for a hit, but then he can’t go through with it and becomes friends with his target.

However, this show gives the trope a little twist. His target: a cat. That’s right, some men hire Kyutaro Madarame (our protagonist) to kill a cat, but then he’s unable to do so and takes the cat home with him. The show is called Neko zamurai (Samurai Cat for us English speaking folks) and it ran for two seasons from 2013 to 2015. Here's a more official synopsis:

A humorless samurai, nearly desperate for work, agrees to assassinate a goblin cat that is accused of possessing a man’s soul.

If you’ll excuse me, I need to find some way to watch this now! Check out the trailer and the amazing clip of Kyutaro singing to the cat while he bathes it. Watch the videos and tell us what you think!

aka Neko Zamurai Out now! The ever versatile Kazuki Kitamura stars as masterless samurai Kyutaro Madarame, a feared swordsman who has fallen on hard times in old Edo. Caught between two warring gangs in an epic battle of cat lovers and dog lovers, he begrudgingly accepts the canine faction's offer to assassinate the opposite leader's beloved pet: an adorable white cat.

Tamanojo has fleas and has to be bathed. I don't own Neko Zamurai
