J.K. Rowling Says The Other FANTASTIC BEASTS Film Will Be Set Outside Europe and North America
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them took audiences to 1920s New York City, and this fall's Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald will take us to Paris for the first time. It’s been fun seeing how the Wizarding World operates around the world, especially since all the Harry Potter were confined to Great Britain.
Now, we’ve learned that new locations will be included in the franchise that will be set outside of Europe and North America. J.K. Rowling recently explained to Entertainment Weekly:
It's far too early to spoil anything. What I can say is that we'll go to at least one new city in the next film, possibly two, and I'm keen to move outside Europe and North America. But you'll just have to wait and see.
She obviously isn’t going to tell us what those new locations are, but I would really love to see one of these Fantastic Beasts films set in Japan or China. Seeing Samurai wizards is just a super cool thought! There are so many places around the world to explore! Egypt and South America would also be awesome. Each of these areas come with their own set of unique mythological and magical creatures.
Rowling has already mapped out the whole Fantastic Beasts film series, so it’s safe to say she knows exactly where she would like to take the characters.
What areas around the world would you like to see the next three Fantastic Beasts films explore?
