J.K. Simmons Teases Being the Father of BATGIRL in Upcoming DC Movie

Aside from his illustrious film career in one hit movie after another, Oscar-winner J.K. Simmons (Juno, Whiplash) happens to be a recurring character in each of the comic universes. He has returned to two franchises, Spider-Man and Batman after long breaks from his characters, and fans are pretty excited to see him return.

He’s coming back to play Commissioner Gordon in the upcoming Batgirl feature film opposite Leslie Grace, who will play Barbara Gordon in the starring role, as well as Michael Keaton, who is returning as Bruce Wayne/Batman, and Brendan Fraser, who will play Garfield Lynns/Firefly.

In a recent interview with Deadline, Keaton talked about returning to the role, and who his daughter in the film is:

“Commissioner Gordon, formerly Detective Gordon, is the father of Barbara Gordon; Well, also the husband of Barbara Gordon, gets a little confusing. We call the younger one 'Babs' or 'Bugs', and she becomes Batgirl. I hope that wasn't a spoiler, my seat didn't get electrified so I guess I'm allowed to say that."

I think everyone is pretty clear that Barbara Gordon in Batgirl, so Simmons is in the clear. It sounds like the Gordons are a tight knit family, and we will see a fair share of the commissioner in the film. We don’t have a synopsis for the movie yet, so there’s still a lot to look forward to, but we should hear or see something soon, as the film is set to release sometime last this year.

Are you looking forward to Batgirl?
