Joaquin Phoenix Has Agreed To Play The Joker in DC's Origin Film!

Joaquin Phoenix looking to take on the role of The Joker in director Todd Phillip's upcoming untitled original film that will focus on the Clown Prince of Crime. Phoenix is such a great actor and he's certainly going to bring something very different and bold to the character.

According to Variety, the studio has not entered into negotiations with the actor yet, but he has apparently been in talks and according to the report, "Phoenix has agreed to the role." At this point it just a matter of getting the contract worked out.

This actually isn't the first time that Joaquin Phoenix has been wanted for the role. Darren Aronofsky wanted him to play The Joker in his Batman film. The studio originally wanted Leonardo DiCaprio to take on the part, but that obviously didn't work out. Pheonix is actually probably the better choice. He's definitely going to bring a level of crazy to the character that fans might enjoy.

Todd Phillips is also on board to co-write the film with Scott Silver. The report goes on to say that the story for the film will "delve into what it took for the Joker to become a mastermind criminal. Sources say the story will take place in the ’80s and have more of the look of a gritty crime drama than comic book movie."

Are you excited to hear that Pheonix will be taking on the role of The Joker? Do you think he's a solid choice?
