Joaquin Phoenix is on a Mission to Brutally Hurt People in This New Trailer For YOU WERE NEVER REALLY HERE

A gripping new trailer was just released for Joaquin Phoenix's new film You Were Never Really Here and it looks so freakin' good! Phoenix plays a tormented war veteran in the film with a troubled past who is hired to rescue a missing young girl who was sold into sex trafficking. Things don't play out the way he expected and this sends him on a brutal journey into a dark underworld where he is going to bring the pain with a hammer.

This seems like an awesome role for Phoenix to take on as it's probably his most hardcore role in a movie to date. It looks like he gives an extremely intense performance. Here's a brief synopsis that came with the trailer:

A traumatized veteran, unafraid of violence, tracks down missing girls for a living. When a job spins out of control, Joe’s nightmares overtake him as a conspiracy is uncovered leading to what may be his death trip or his awakening.

The movie was directed by Lynne Ramsay and it looks like she did a fantastic job directing the film. Child sex-trafficking in the U.S. is a huge issue. It has been for years and it good to see a film like this bring awareness to that. You Were Never Really Here opens on April 6, 2018.

You Were Never Really Here - Trailer - Starring Joaquin Phoenix. Directed by Lynne Ramsay. Winner of Best Actor and Best Screenplay at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival. You Were Never Really Here arrives in select theaters April 6.
