Joaquin Phoenix Reportedly Offered $50 Million To Star in Two JOKER Sequels

With Warner Bros.’ Joker pulling in over $1 billion at the box office, you know the studio has had discussions about sequels. Several months ago director Todd Philips said that it’s way too early to tell if a sequel will actually happen. Well, now according to The Mirror, the studio reportedly has offered Joaquin Phoenix $50 million to reprise his role in two Joker sequels.

The report says, “Joaquin initially felt Joker was a standalone movie. But he’s changed his tune now. He says he wants to play this character again, despite the controversies that came with the release last year.”

They go as far as to also claim the “the scripts are being written and Joaquin is very engaged with it.” Their inside source went on to say that the two sequels will be made over the course of the next four years, “with a long-term commitment to Joaquin and his Joker director Todd Phillips and producer Bradley Cooper. It’s all about getting Joaquin to accept the terms – and the biggest payday of his career by far.”

This is all just a rumor for now. WB has yet to confirm any of this. I’d normally say that it might be hard to believe, but we all know that the studio would love to make a sequel to their fourth highest grossing films ever. It makes sense that they would push hard to make it happen. But, we’ll just have to wait for an official announcement.

Do you think there’s any truth to this rumor? Would you be interested in seeing two more Joker sequels with Phoenix?
