Joaquin Phoenix Reveals The Origin of His Laugh For JOKER

Like many of you, I’m very curious to see how director Todd PhillipsJoker turns out. I’ve loved everything that I’ve seen from it and I’ve heard that it’s any incredible film with a powerhouse performance from Joaquin Phoenix.

We’ve all gotten a little taste of Phoenix’s performance in the trailers and that includes his creepy-ass laugh. During a recent interview with Il Venerdi, the actor revealed how he came up with that laugh, saying:

"I started [with the laugh]. I watched videos of people suffering from pathological laughter, a neurological disorder that makes individuals laugh uncontrollably."

That is one of the disorders that his character Arthur Fleck is said to suffer from in the film. The pathological disorders that this character has will certainly make him more interesting as he makes the transformation from street clown to the menace of Gotham City.

Joker centers around the iconic arch-nemesis and is an original, standalone story not seen before on the big screen. The exploration of Arthur Fleck (Joaquin Phoenix), a man disregarded by society, is not only a gritty character study, but also a broader cautionary tale.

The film also stars Robert De NiroZazie Beetz, Frances Conroy, Brett Cullen, and Marc Maron.

Joker will be released in theaters on October 4th, 2019.
