Joby Harold Has Been Hired to Write Obi-Wan Kenobi Series for Disney+

Writer, director, and producer Joby Harold, known for writing the films Awake and King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, has been hired on to write the upcoming Disney+ series based on the popular Star Wars character Obi-Wan Kenobi. Harold is taking over the coveting writing job from Hossein Amini, who left the project earlier this year, pushing the production back from August 2020 to January 2021. That was probably going to happen anyway considering the current climate in Hollywood.

It is confirmed that Ewan McGregor will be returning to reprise his role of Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Deborah Chow is set to direct. Chow has previously directed episodes of many hit series like Mr. Robot, Jessica Jones, Better Call Saul, and The Mandalorian.

THR previously reported that the plan is to scale the series back from six episodes to only four to tell the story, and we previously reported that the “Kenobi story treaded similar ground as Mandalorian, seeing the Jedi master lending a protective hand to a young Luke and perhaps even a young Leia.”

I am excited for this series, and I’m glad to hear that it is moving forward. I hope that Harold is a good match and will help tell the story that fans want to see. Are you looking forward to this series?
