Jodie Comer Set to Lead Damon Lindelof’s HBO Thriller Series THE CHAIN

Jodie Comer is heading back to television for what sounds like another intense and emotionally charged role. The Killing Eve star has officially signed on to lead HBO’s upcoming limited series The Chain, which comes from Watchmen and The Leftovers creator Damon Lindelof.

The project is based on Adrian McKinty’s bestselling novel of the same name, and the setup is pure nightmare fuel.

Comer will play Rachel, a suburban mother whose life is turned upside down when her daughter is kidnapped. But this isn’t a straightforward ransom situation.

Rachel is forced into a horrifying situation where survival comes with impossible choices, pushing her into a dangerous chain of events that spirals far beyond a single crime.

HBO handed the series an official order earlier this year, continuing its long relationship with Lindelof, who remains under an overall deal with the network. Lindelof is serving as writer, executive producer, and showrunner on the series, which is said to expand the mythology of McKinty’s original novel

The pilot script was written by Lindelof and Carly Wray, based on a story developed by Lindelof, Wray, and Breannah Gibson.

Media Res is producing alongside HBO, with Michael Ellenberg and Lindsey Springer executive producing for the studio.

Comer is a great actress and the perfect fit for this kind of material. She made a massive impression playing the unpredictable assassin Villanelle in Killing Eve.

Her film career has also been on a serious roll lately. Comer recently starred in 28 Years Later for director Danny Boyle, and she’s got several projects lined up next including The Death of Robin Hood, The Last Disturbance of Madeline Hynde, and Stuffed.
