JOE EXOTIC Series Starring Kate McKinnon as Carole Baskin Has Been Picked Up by Peacock
Joe Exotic and his band of misfits will always be remembered as the people who got us through the beginning of the pandemic. The Netflix docuseries Tiger King was a huge success at the streamer, and it triggered follow-up projects to keep fans informed about the animals and the weirdos who keep them within the world of big cat sanctuaries.
Now we have a new series that has landed at Peacock called Joe Exotic coming up that will dig deeper into the story of archenemies Joe Exotic and Carole Baskin, who will be portrayed by Kate McKinnon. The dramedy is based on the true events covered in the Wondery Podcast of the same name, and “centers on Carole Baskin (McKinnon), a big cat enthusiast, who learns that fellow exotic animal lover Joe ‘Exotic’ Schreibvogel is breeding and using his big cats for profit. She sets out to shut down his venture, inciting a quickly escalating rivalry. But Carole has a checkered past of her own and when the claws come out, Joe will stop at nothing to expose what he sees as her hypocrisy. The results prove dangerous.”
The series will be written and executive produced by Etan Frankel, who has worked on series like Friday Night Lights and Shameless, as well as the upcoming Evel Knievel series starring Milo Ventimiglia.
McKinnon is the only star cast in the series for now. Who would you like to see play Joe Exotic?
