Joey's Top 10 List of Favorite Films of 2018

It's never easy for me to put together my end of the year Top 10 favorite movie list. There are so many films that I enjoyed watching that were released through the year! But I nailed down a list that I'm happy with.

I know not everyone will agree with my list. After all, it’s my list based on my tastes, and everyone has their own tastes. When it comes to any favorite movie list, there are no right or wrong answers. It's just a person's opinion.

But, if for some reason you feel the need to lash out at me, I guess that's what the comment section is for. Or you can always just share your ten favorite films of the year and we can talk about how awesome movies are!

So, let’s just jump right into the list!

Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse

This was my number one favorite movie of the year. The movie blew me away and delivered, in my opinion, the best and most entertaining movie of the year. This is just one of those films that brought me pure joy and happiness.

Ready Player One

There was no way Ready Player One wasn't going to be on my list! This movie was an absolute blast! Having grown up in the 80s, this movie was a nostalgic punch to the face, and for me, it was a perfect representation of the kind of geek that I am.

Avengers: Infinity War

Marvel Studios continues to up the game in their movies, and Avengers: Infinity War is the beginning of the end of the overall story arc that they started with Iron Man. It has been an incredible journey with these characters, and Infinity War delivered one of their best films yet.

Free Solo

This documentary was completely nerve wracking! It follows free solo climber Alex Honnold and his journey to becoming the first person to ever free solo climb Yosemite's 3,000ft high El Capitan Wall. With no ropes or safety gear, he completed arguably the greatest feat in any kind of sports history.

From award-winning documentary filmmaker E. Chai Vasarhelyi and world-renowned photographer and mountaineer Jimmy Chin, comes FREE SOLO, a stunning, intimate and unflinching portrait of free soloist climber Alex Honnold, as he prepares to achieve his lifelong dream: climbing the face of the world's most famous rock... the 3,200ft El Capitan in Yosemite National Park...

Bumblebee

I've been waiting for a great Transformers movie that would represent and carry the spirit of the original cartoon that I grew up watching, and I finally got it thanks to director Travis Knight! This movie was an absolute blast! It's crazy that I'm actually putting a Transformers movie on my favorite movie list! I never thought that would ever happen!

Hailee Steinfeld and John Cena star in this Transformers prequel showing new shots of Cybertron and the Decepticons like Soundwave and Shockwave. A Quiet Place

This was my favorite horror movie of the year. Not only was it a great horror movie that delivered some intense thrills, it also had a great and unique story. The fact that they were able to pull this movie off with the limited amount of dialogue that it had was pretty awesome.

Those who have survived, live by one rule. Never make a sound. Watch the new trailer for #AQuietPlace starring Emily Blunt and John Krasinski. In Cinemas April 6!

Eighth Grade

This was just such a wonderful coming of age movie that I absolutely loved. It really dove into the awkwardness of what it was like to be in the eighth grade, and being a dad with an eighth grader in the house, it was something that I was able to connect with and relate to.

They Shall Not Grow Old

Peter Jackson's World War I documentary was such an incredible and moving experience for me. As someone who loves history, this is one the most stunning documentary on The Great War that I've ever seen, and it’s a movie that everyone needs to see!

http://www.fathomevents.com/TSNGO Produced and Directed by Peter Jackson: The acclaimed documentary is an extraordinary look at the soldiers and events of the Great War, using film footage captured at the time, now presented as the world has never seen.

Isle of Dogs

I'm not seeing this movie on any of the top 10 movie lists that I've seen, but I just loved it. This was such a wonderful film that took audiences on a unique and odd journey, and I'm a sucker for Wes Anderson's storytelling style. I know the movie isn't for everyone, but it made my list.

Now on Digital: http://bit.ly/Isle-Of-Dogs Now on Blu-ray and DVD: http://bit.ly/Isle_Of_Dogs ISLE OF DOGS tells the story of ATARI KOBAYASHI, 12-year-old ward to corrupt Mayor Kobayashi. When, by Executive Decree, all the canine pets of Megasaki City are exiled to a vast garbage-dump called Trash Island, Atari sets off alone in a miniature Junior-Turbo Prop and flies across the river in search of his bodyguard-dog, Spots.

The Mule

What can I say... Clint Eastwood delivered another great film! He's one of my favorite filmmakers, and his latest film about an old man running drugs for the cartel is a winner. I just love Eastwood's style.

Nobody Runs Forever. Clint Eastwood is #TheMule, in theaters December 14. http://www.facebook.com/TheMuleFilm/ http://twitter.com/TheMuleFilm http://www.instagram.com/themulefilm/ http://www.themulefilm.com/ From Warner Bros. Pictures, Imperative Entertainment and BRON Creative comes Clint Eastwood's newest feature film, the drama "The Mule."

I also just wanted to take the opportunity to point out one thing that I absolutely loved this year that isn't a movie.

The Haunting of Hill House

This was my number one favorite form of entertainment of the year. This Netflix series completely blew me away in every way.

On October 12th, you're expected. The Haunting of Hill House is a modern reimagining of the iconic novel, about 5 siblings who grew up in the most famous haunted house in America.

Here's a list of other films that I also loved that didn't make the Top 10, but were heavily considered:

Vice

Bohemian Rhapsody

A Star is Born

American Animals

Blindspotting

Green Book

Mission: Impossible - Fallout

Ant-Man and The Wasp

BlackKklansman

Hereditary

Crazy Rich Asians

Bad Times at the El Royale

Solo: A Star Wars Story
