John Boyega Has Met With Marvel About Playing a Superhero, But Who Could It Be?
It looks like John Boyega will eventually get his chance to star in a Marvel movie. With the relationship that he was with Disney through his work on the Star Wars films, trying to include him in the MCU was bound to happen. Now, it seems like the process has started to make it happen. According to BoundingIntoComics:
"Boyega revealed that he's had meetings with Marvel about potentially taking on a Marvel superhero."
The report goes on to say that the superhero role he would be taking on would be "way down the line, and most likely wouldn't be happening in the near future."
There's no word on who Marvel is looking to have him play, but a lot of fans have thought that he would make a great Blade, which I can't argue with. It's not hard to imagine Boyega in the role of Blade. He could totally pull it off! But, he doesn't seem very keen on the idea. When previously asked about it he said it should be Wesley Snipes:
"Wesley [Snipes], man. That's Wesley for Blade. I would want to see Wesley."
Then during a panel at Awesome Con, a fan asked Boyega about it and his response was:
"[It would] spit in the face of Wesley [Snipes] if I took Blade. [I'm] all for Wesley [Snipes] playing Blade."
So, if Blade is out of the question, what Marvel characters do you think Boyega would be a good fit for? I think it would be interesting to see him take on the role of Isaiah Bradley, who is the last surviving test subject of Dr. Reinstein's portion of Project: Rebirth.
If you're not familiar with Isaiah Bradley, after Steve Rogers participated in Project: Rebirth, "the U.S. Army tested the early version of the Super Soldier Serum on 300 black soldiers. A married man and father to a newborn girl, Isaiah Bradley was an infantryman at Camp Cathcart, Mississippi in 1942, during the first year of the United States involvement in World War II." If Captain America ends up dying in one of these next Avenger films, maybe Isaiah Bradley could be a way to replace him. What do you think?
