John Boyega Says "No Thank You" To Starring in Any New STAR WARS Films
It looks like John Boyega is very happy with moving away from the Star Wars franchise in his career. A lot of fans are also happy with moving away and distancing themselves from that last trilogy of films that Disney and Lucasfilm produced.
While we’ve seen some Star Wars actors excited and happy to reprise their roles in the franchise over the years, including Ewan McGregor coming back as Obi-Wan Kenobi, Boyega just wants to leave the franchise behind him.
When replying to a fan on social media who wanted to see Finn in one of the new Star Wars movies on the horizon, Boyega responded with "Lol, no thank you. I’ve moved on." In another reply, Boyega said, "Not into playing one role for too long. I have more to offer than that."
When previously talking about his desire to be done with Star Wars after three films, he said:
"It feels OK, because as much as it has been long in comparison to other franchise films – I already feel like if there were six more movies, I feel like, with a strong-enough narrative, I could possibly find somewhere to go with Finn. Do you know what I mean?
"But with just three films, there’s still a curiosity and a mystery about Finn that I still have. There’s still certain things that I really don’t know about him. It doesn’t feel as strange leaving him. It feels like, 'OK, cool. It’s a balanced, right time.'"
Well, it’s not like Boyega is hurting for work. The guy has several projects lined up and I’m sure he’ll be keeping busy for years to come without having to make any more Star Wars films. After the backlash he got from some of the Star Wars fans, it makes sense that he wants to leave it behind him.
