John Carpenter Says There Could Be Two More Films That Tell Snake Plissken Stories
John Carpenter’s Escape From New York and Escape From L.A. are both incredibly fun films. One of the main things that make those movies so great is Kurt Russell’s portrayal of Snake Plissken. He’s just such a cool and badass film character.
I assumed that we’d seen the last of this character on the big screen, but according to Carpenter, there are at least two more stories to tell involving Snake. During a recent interview with Total Film/Games Radar, the filmmaker was asked about the future of the franchise, and he said:
"He's a character that Kurt is passionately fond of. He convinced me to do the sequel. There's probably a third or maybe even fourth story about Snake. I don't know if we'll ever make it, but I think that he deserves it."
Well, if you think he deserves to have these stories told, then go out and make the movies! This just seems like it would be an easy sell. Carpenter and Russell teaming up for another movie about Snake Plissken!? Hell yeah! Of course I’d watch that!
Now I can’t help but wonder what the next two stories in the franchise could be. Carpenter has obviously got some ideas rolling around in his head. Even if he doesn’t return to direct, he should at least start pushing to get the films made.
Would you be up for watching more films that revolve around Kurt Russell’s Snake Plissken?
