John Cena Talks About His Scrapped COYOTE VS. ACME Says He "Respects" The Path of Shelving The Movie

While most of the creative team behind Coyote Vs. ACME has bashed Warner Bros. decision to scrap the movie, John Cena sees things differently and respects the move the studio made to shelve the film after it was completed.

While talking to The Wrap, Cena said: "There's a lot there. And everyone's perspective is different. We don't own the film. That's the tough part about this business, you do have a sense of ownership because you invest heart and soul.

“And [director] Dave Green and everybody involved, we made what we thought was a good movie… but at the end of the day it is the movie business. I understand and respect the business path of shelving the movie, I completely do.’

"I would have liked to seen it given a chance. But I'm just one person. If it was shelved, I would have to think that it was shelved for the right reasons and it was a good business decision.

“I think I would have tremendous regret and shame if I look back on the legacy of the movie and it was shelved for reasons other than that.”

"So I have to believe in the process. I love the movie, my heart and soul is in there, but it's somebody else's project to do what they want with and they've chosen accordingly."

Cena has been in this business a long time but he is coming off as being very clueless here. WB has scrapped a number of film and TV projects for the purpose of tax write-offs instead of allowing them to be viewed. That is exactly what is going on here.

Coyote Vs. ACME was not shelved for the “right reasons” it was shelved out of sheer Hollywood greed. also, the Hollywood process is something that shouldn’t be believed in because many of the people running it make the worst decisions.

Coyote Vs. Acme actor Will Forte (Saturday Night Live, Nebraska) preivously explained: “I know that a lot of you haven’t gotten a chance to see our movie. And sadly, it’s a looking like you never will.

“When I first heard that our movie was getting ‘deleted,’ I hadn’t seen it yet. So I was thinking what everyone else must have been thinking: this thing must be a hunk of junk. But then I saw it. And it’s Incredible.”

Forte continued to beam about the movie, saying: “Super funny throughout, visually stunning, sweet, sincere, and emotionally resonant in a very earned way.

“As the credits rolled, I just sat there thinking how lucky I was to be a part of something so special. That quickly turned to confusion and frustration. This was the movie they’re not going to release?

““Look, when it comes to Hollywood business stuff, I don’t know shit about shit. Even when a movie tests very well (like ours), there’s no guarantee that it’s gonna be a hit. And at the end of the day, the people who paid for this movie can obviously do whatever they want with it.

“It doesn’t mean I have to like it (I fu**king hate it). Or agree with it. And it doesn’t mean that this movie is anything less than magnificent.”

Forte ends his note: “You would be so proud of it — a movie that should be seen, but won’t. Please know that all the years and years of hard work, dedication and love that you put into this movie shows in every frame. That’s all folks, Will Forte”

The axing of Coyote vs. Acme has drawn ire across Hollywood, particularly from the animation community (Phil Lord and Chris Miller) to the pic’s Oscar winning composer Steven Price (who collected a trophy for another Warner Bros’ movie, Gravity.

What do you think about Cena’s take on this movie being scrapped?
